Blood Testing at FCDC – What We Do in Hematology

At FCDC, we have a special department called Hematology, which focuses on studying blood and blood-related diseases.

We have expert blood doctors (hematologists) and highly trained lab staff who carefully check all blood samples. They use modern machines and follow strict rules to make sure the test results are correct and given on time.

Types of Blood Tests We Offer:

Regular Blood Tests

These are basic tests done to check your overall health or find common problems:

  • CBC or Blood Complete Picture – checks red cells, white cells, and platelets
  • Blood film (peripheral smear) – looks at blood cells under a microscope
  • ESR – checks for inflammation
  • Malaria test
  • Coombs’ test – used in anemia
  • G6PD enzyme test – checks for enzyme problems in red blood cells
  • Urine or fluid tests – checks for blood or other substances

If any result looks strange, our senior doctors double-check it. Sometimes they repeat the test for free to make sure it is accurate.

Special Blood Tests

✅ Hemoglobin Electrophoresis

Used to find Thalassemia or other problems with hemoglobin (the part of blood that carries oxygen).

✅ Protein Electrophoresis

Used to detect unusual proteins that may be signs of cancer or immune problems.

✅ Bone Marrow Test

We take a sample from the bone to check for serious diseases like blood cancer. Special coloring (stains) and genetic tests can also be done if needed. You can talk to our doctors about your results anytime.

Blood Clotting Tests (Coagulation Tests)

We test how well your blood clots. These tests are very important for people with bleeding problems or those on blood-thinning medicines.

Some common tests include:

  • PT/INR
  • APTT
  • Fibrinogen
  • FDPs

We also test for clotting disorders like:

  • Protein C and S
  • Anti-Thrombin III
  • Lupus anticoagulant
  • Antiphospholipid antibodies

We always check the patient’s health history before finalizing abnormal results.

Platelet Function Test

This test is for people taking medicines like Aspirin or Clopidogrel, to check if the medicine is working properly on their blood platelets (cells that help with clotting).

Chromosome (Cytogenetic) Tests

These tests look at a person’s genes and chromosomes to find genetic problems or causes of illness. These are useful for:

  • Birth defects
  • Mental delays
  • Unusual body features
  • Short height
  • Problems with puberty or periods
  • Repeated miscarriages
  • Infertility

At FCDC, we care about giving accurate, fast, and trusted test results. Our doctors are always ready to explain your reports and help you understand your health better.
